Sadness is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences from time to time. Experiencing a loss, stress, or a big life change can provoke feelings of sadness - this is normal. When sadness becomes persistent for more than two weeks and interfere with functions in your daily roles and responsibilities, it is time to seek help.
